Putting your credit in order
It’s a New Year and one of the first items of business is to get your financial house in order! Your financial situation easily begins with your credit and keeping that on track. First order is to know your credit score and know what is on your credit report. If you do not know these things it is time to find out. You can find out by getting a copy of your credit report. Order a copy of your free yearly credit report from annualcreditreport.com. This will allow you to get a copy of all three credit reports from all three credit reporting agencies. I would suggest getting the credit reports mailed to you vs downloading them unless you will be printing them right away.
All credit reporting agencies are not made equally. If you are using Credit Karma or one of the other credit services you will not be getting a full history of all the items on your report and typically they will have a credit score off by 20-50 points different than your real score. While Credit Karma has its uses, this is not the place to go to have an accurate assessment of your credit score and credit report.
There are three major credit reporting agencies TransUnion, Equifax and Experian
The three national credit bureaus have a centralized website, toll-free telephone number, and mailing address so you can order your free annual reports in one place. Do not contact the three national credit bureaus individually. These are the only ways to order your free credit reports:
visit AnnualCreditReport.com
call 1-877-322-8228
complete the Annual Credit Report Request Form and mail it to:
Annual Credit Report Request Service
P.O. Box 105281
Atlanta, GA 30348-5281
Once you get a copy of your credit report, we can help you read it and dispute any items that maybe incorrect. We can also help you work on any items that may be delinquent or a charge- off. Whatever the issue we can help you resolve it and begin to improve your credit.
Please leave your information in the forms or email me nancy.boyd.boyd@gmail.com to get help with improving your credit score!
